Task Force Ranger

The Mog Mile

Mogadishu · 3–4 October 1993

Task Force Ranger was never one unit. Rangers, Delta, the 160th, Air Force pararescue and Navy SEALs went in. The quick reaction force that fought its way through the city to reach them was 10th Mountain. The men who were there count all of it as one task force, and so does this network.

3 October 1993

The Raid

Task Force Ranger went into Mogadishu on what was planned as a short daylight raid. Two Black Hawks were brought down over the city, and the raid became a rescue.

4 October 1993

The Walk Out

When the relief convoy reached the survivors the next morning, there was room in the vehicles for the dead and the seriously wounded and no one else. Everyone still on their feet moved out on foot, under fire, to the stadium.

Ever since

The Name

That movement is about a mile long. It is remembered as the Mogadishu Mile, shortened by the men who walked it to the Mog Mile. The men who walked it are who this network is for.

Your entry into this network requires your active engagement. To secure your comms, you are expected to:

We Issue the Phone. You Hold the Line.

A network is only as good as the ability to reach each other. Participants can be issued a device and 24 months of unlimited service so that no brother is out of contact for want of a phone bill. It is not a subscription and there is nothing to pay. The price is the same as everything else here: participation.
